Welcome Skateboards

Saturday Session in the CM Town

On Saturday, Shane hit the streets and the park in Costa Mesa with a few friends and a couple cameras.  The street footage is being saved for another day, but here’s a few minutes from the session at the park.  The video sorcery was performed by David Serrano from Platform Skateshop(they’re the doods that just won the DVS Shopliftin’ video contest) and he’s pretty damn good with a camera.

Here’s a little photographic evidence of the session as well, shot by Brian.

A couple notes about each of the creatures, from the Beast himself:

(About the Kodiak)

In life, I was powerful and full of rage.  Now, in death, I am at peace and undergoing a magical transformation.  I am trying to get back to present day earth in my new form.

(About the Owl)

My father was a proud Great Horned owl hailing from the Northwest, and my mother was a Yeti.  I yearned to go into business or be a scholar, but my bloodline demanded that I devote my life to sorcery.

It’s okay if you’re confused, the Beast works in mysterious ways.  Thumbnails below enlarge.  HUGE thanks to Mr. Walnum for shooting these deliciously colorful gems, and for making them look as good as we think they do in person.  Treat yourself!

On Friday Shane went down to San Clemente to hang out with Welcome friend Brian Walnum.  Brian shot the product photos for our current lineup of boards(which will be up on our newly-redesigned website very soon!) and then they cruised around the streets by his house for a bit.  Here’s a couple photos from their adventure.  Shaka!

You know when you’re watching some random British kid’s product review video for some random Emerica shoe and the video starts off with a photo of you? Isn’t it weird when that happens?!

And a little bit of the parks.

Basically, this is why we love Nolan:

More Nolan at Coastal Carnage

Just found this shot of Nolan from the Coastal Carnage contest a few weeks ago on the S-One site. It may look like it’s just an ollie, but the owl is his familiar spirit and is actually guiding him through the air. He’s just standing on his board. Magical!

Last weekend Johnny Utah(Nolan Johnson) made the trek from the shady wilderness of Seattle down to the shirt-depleted shores of Huntington Beach for the CONS Coastal Carnage contest.  He ripped the place apart on one of our fancy new punk point boards, as you can see below.  He got $50 for the wallride transfer(sequence) and another $100 for a judo variation of the same transfer the next day in the Best Trick contest.  As always, we’re quite proud of little Johnny… I mean Nolan.

Check out our friends over at We Ride At Night. This artist collective/skate company is producing completely unique artwork and gear(dropping Holiday ’09!) that’s sure to get a reaction, even from those who are sure they’ve seen it all.

Take a look at their site, and keep an eye peeled for their boards and apparel in the coming months. For now, treat yourself to a preview of the graphic for their “Pro Gay Monster Adoption” V-neck shirt. What in holy hell…

Nolan & Swift for Bones

Check out this rad little commercial that Nolan and Skateboard Mag Editor in Chief Dave Swift shot for Bones SPF wheels a little bit ago.  If you’ve ever been to Washington Street you know how gnarly Nolan’s last trick is.  If you haven’t… you can’t even imagine.
